How to get over a heartbreak

heartbreak

The pain, the hurt and the memories make you feel like you are drowning and you can’t seem to move past that. My dear friend you had your heart broken!

This one experience that most of us go through, but we deal with it in different manner. Some of us cry our heart out and some of us drown our sorrows in alcohol. No matter how you deal with it, unless you have a proper closure, you can’t get over it and move ahead in life. A person should not be trapped in a particular moment for the rest of his life.

In order to get over heartbreak you need to make sure that you want to get past that hurt and then follow these

Stop crying your eyes out

Though tears may give you temporary relief, it would be so much better if you decide that you would not shed another tear for the person who caused you so much pain. No matter who broke up, it still hurts. So be strong and do not waste those precious tears on someone who is no longer a part of your life.

Un-follow on social media

We all have a tendency to stalk someone. And if you have been deeply attached you tend to see what that person is doing and how well or poorly have they been leading their life. But for your own peace of mind, it would be good to un-follow them. Out of sight is out of mind. Besides, social media is not the reality.  Your once SO (significant other) might be putting up a facade to show it to you. So give your heart a break and un-follow.

Throw away all the memorabilia

You do not need the movie stub or the bottle of perfume that she gave you. In order to get over your heart break, you need to throw them away and get rid of them. Thinking about those will only make you revisit your past and it is never a good idea to revisit the past. One must always look ahead in life.

Don’t try to get back together

The thumb rule after every break up is to never try to get back again. What was wrong once will never be right the next time around. So in order to get over the one you loved once, is to get over them and not dream of ever meeting them and rekindling the relationship.

Never look for a replacement

Moving on does not mean that you would want to meet someone new. Your emotions are all over the place so why would you want to fall into the same pattern. A hasty decision is going to cost you emotionally and probably by the time you have realized your mistake, it might be too late.

Invest time in friends

Your friends and family are the stable ones in your life.  After your heartbreak it is better to spend time with them. They will help you refocus your attention on your life. go out and have fun with them.

Pick up a new hobby

Don’t pick a new person; rather pick a new hobby, something to do. Your life needs to shift the focus. Remember you were the master of it before that person came and you can’t cease to exist when that person left. So gather your wits and do an activity that makes you happy.

A heart break is a difficult time for any individual, but that does not mean your life ends now. HEARTBREAK means give your heart and emotions some rest. When you are in a relationship, you see the world through rose tainted glasses but a breakup gives you focus and a new view towards life. Learn your lesson and move ahead.
