Meet Archana Karthikeyan who is armed with an MBA on a mission to use her management skills to make NGOs financially stronger. More importantly she has an achievement in our fight against the coronavirus. She facilitated preparation of face masks in bulk, she is one of the covid heroes.
Can you tell us a brief background about yourself?
I am qualified as an MBA finance and certified Digital Marketing Professional. I left my job and changed my career to teaching. As a representative of CueMaths I began taking classes for children. Though I am good in maths and like teaching, recently something happened which changed my perspective towards a different line of work.
Wow, and what would that be?
I came across a few NGOs. They had a nice team of hardworking and talented people but they were not able to properly get any projects for their living. Now at Knitty Knotty Gifts, we have this beautiful team who does our products. And in another NGO, they were unable to reach people and sell their products. This resulted in lesser sales. I observed their business model and could give them suggestions for improvement. This boosted my confidence and convinced me that I could pick up this new line of work.
Knitty Knotty Gifts aims to highlight the tradition and culture of rural/local artists by bringing unique stuffs which is handmade, to you and your family. Our aim is to highlight, encourage and support the natural talent our artisans possess without the use of machines and technology. We strive to bring all kinds of art and craft work under one roof by partnering with local artisans especially NGOs and rural India and bring to you all a bunch of creativity under one roof.
What exactly is your idea?
Recently during this coronavirus crisis, I got in touch with 16 ladies who are now preparing face masks. We had some raw material and we made masks till our raw material was over. We are now in the process of procuring fresh stocks.
We made 700 masks which are high quality 2 ply 3 layered masks and sold them at nominal prices.
