This is the second part of my story. I want to do things differently. From the beginning I have been on the heavier side. No issues in that, but once I saw an article about Opera Mrs India Global 2018 and I just wanted to participate. My husband was skeptical and was cautioning me on if I want to do it. My daughters however were fully supportive and encouraged me to go for it.
As a last thing, I once again re-checked the age and weight criteria (there weren’t any!) I went to the audition and to my own surprise, I got selected. After going through the number of rounds, I reached the top ten.
A funny normal
In one of the final rounds, the contestants were asked to dance to Bollywood numbers. I refused to dance. Firstly I did not know how to dance. And secondly I was not convinced that in order to showcase my talent, it is necessary for me to dance. Instead I did a one person act on stage. It might have ruffled some feathers, but I ended up winning the title of Mrs Talented.
My advice to women is that do not follow someone else blindly. Do your own thing, be your own individual. If you do things differently, people will sit up and notice. The journey will be difficult and many people around you will always suggest to follow the herd. But if you believe in yourself and your capabilities, the world will follow you.
There is always going to be a place for people in this world who want to do things differently.
