Tell us something about Madhumita Singh that makes you stand out from the crowd.
Hey everyone, today I am gonna speak about me. I am 22 years old with lots of energy inside. I come from a farmer family, born and brought up in Bihar. After early schooling in Delhi I had to move back to Bihar due to financial crisis in family. So I have a mixed version of Delhi plus Bihar. I have seen people, their culture, their thought process and how things grow here and what opportunities are here in Delhi which are not there in my Bihar. So talking about Bihar obviously taught me about my roots, culture, and education which one should not forget.
I am a very self dependent girl since my parents were not living with me, I was not much emotionally attached to family. I always believe that there is a need to change some mindsets, some thought processes and I am the one who can bring change. Also my family expected good marks, good company. I proved them everything. I am very confident that I always stick to my words and that we need a simple change. Like if I talk about a woman she is not just a wife or sister or girl-friend. She has more capabilities than a man and as a good supporter, she just needs respect and whatever she wants to do as a career we all should support her in every terms. I have a dream to create more entrepreneurs coming from small towns and cities where there is no rise of startups. We want to transform these cities into a culture of entrepreneurship. I have done so many adjustments in life that make me a really strong version of myself. I am always ready for new experiences to explore life.
Please explain about the setup of KaroStartup.
When I was part of a team working for HIE Foundation which was started 2 yrs back in which we organize events of startups at IIT-Delhi and we saw so many guests talking about entrepreneurs, their journey, thick and thins and how they are successful today. It occurred to us that we also have to start our own. We started connecting many founders of startups to work with them. We did Internships, joined startup companies so that we can learn how things will be. We were betrayed in some companies and also my family expected good marks with job at a good company. I proved them everything. But I was not interested to continue in a job setup. We started noticing that we were getting connected to large number of entrepreneurs each and everyday. We began with publishing stories, doing interview in which we discuss about their journey, ups and downs.
During lockdown we started webinar session with all the CEO and Founders. We are into media and our team has a mission which Narendra Modi saw that from each and every district we need startups but we can see that only people from metros are doing startups or only students graduating from IIT. Continuing about our mission, we now have made a community of startups which has around 23000+ people on Instagram, 16000+ on Facebook and many groups on WhatsApp. We are working really hard for this to grow and people are trusting our brand.
Computer Science, Digital Marketing Strategist to a Human Resource Recruiter, quite a varied profile. Please tell us the story and your experience.
Yes, when I came to Delhi I had not cleared JEE Mains and no good college admission in hand. So I thought the generation is going up with Computers and should go for Computer Science Bachelor’s Course from Noida and it was really trending. 2 yrs back there was boom of Digital Marketing so I thought I should try that, I did internship, was selected for job-got offers from two company with good salary. But I declined an offer from a MNC. I was not clear with my career so started connecting with startups and working with them. After being betrayed I once again got confused and I asked myself where I should go now? I was always good at talking and leading anything. So I started giving interviews in consultancies where I gave 2, 3 Interviews all of them I got selected. I joined but there was also something missing that I needed to fulfill. So we started with my college friends and yes it’s going good.
Who is the voice of reasoning in your head?
Well, there are so many people but I was touched by Shradhha Sharma’s story. She is an entrepreneur who has interviewed all the big giants in market. So I am learning from her. I am also following the path she followed and yes I will be successful as she is today. Make my own fame and brand.
How has the journey been so far?
I think it was an awesome journey exploring so many things and it’s time to do good things, add value to our product, connect and create an environment of more than 1 lacs entrepreneurs. So many good things are yet to start so we are on the track to make this dream possible.
What message would you give to all those women who want to follow their dreams at any cost?
I would say that we have one life why we are dependent on others for our happiness. We should not learn to adjust in life. We have the right to pursue careers, do whatever you love. When we are born at every point we are compared with brothers and always said that you have to go to someone else’s house no need to work much. Your husband will be there. I don’t understand this fact why we are not empowering our girls? We are not supporting them for career! Parents are more focused on marriage which is not that important. An independent woman is a need of society in every country where in the World Bank report women have less participation so it will help to grow the country’s GDP. Let’s support women at every point of time. She is beautiful, she is with you, she gave birth to a child, let us give this freedom to do everything that she loves.
