A Brazilian, born in São Paulo Renata Clarke-Gray at age 12 moved to the city of João Pessoa, capital of the State of Paraíba, Brazil. She is a writer and is part of the International Academy of Brazilian Literature-AILB. She is a corresponding member of the Inclusive Academy of Authors Brasilienses-AIAB. She is a founding member of the Núcleo Accademico Italiano Di Scienze, Lettere E Arti-NAISLA. She is a collaborator of the Coletivo Mulheres Artistas and currently coordinates the VOZES de MULHERES ARTISTAS project, in addition to being an agent of the social networks of this cultural collective.
She is a blogger (www.shadesofclarkegray.blogspot.com), a space where the reader can learn about part of the author’s work.
Her first book Sunset & Poetry (in English), an independent production, was published by Amazon in December 2020, and the bilingual version in June 2021. She has participated in several anthologies as a co-author, by Literarte, Rede Sem Fronteiras, Letras Graciosas and Ações Literárias. She lives with her husband in the town of St George’s, Grenada in the Caribbean, moored on the couple’s boat.
What is your inspiration to write? Qual é a sua inspiração para escrever?
English: People think that every poet writes about their own feelings, emotions and that is it! I am writing about it too, but isn’t just my own feelings emotions. What is inspire me the most is to be able to write about people’s emotions, nature, music, everything that I can capture in the moment.
Português: As pessoas pensam que todo poeta escreve sobre seus próprios sentimentos, emoções e é isso! Estou escrevendo sobre isso também, mas não se trata apenas de meus próprios sentimentos e emoções. O que mais me inspira é ser capaz de escrever sobre as emoções das pessoas, natureza, música, tudo o que posso capturar no momento.
What is the story behind Sunset and Poetry? Qual é a história por trás de “Sunset & Poetry”?
English: My lifestyle. I have lived on a sailboat since the day I started dating my husband, my boyfriend at the time (almost 19 years ago). Sunset & Poetry shows the combination of my poetry with the photos I took of the sunset I saw on my travels.
Português: Meu estilo de vida. Moro em um veleiro desde o dia em que comecei a namorar meu marido, meu namorado na época (quase 19 anos atrás). Sunset & Poetry mostra a combinação da minha poesia com as fotos que tirei do pôr do sol que vi nas minhas viagens.

English: Funny, I don’t click on my photos. I take a picture when I love what I see and try to add something that I know will please people. Photo is like a painting, art. Sometimes what we see is not exactly what you see. Each person interprets art differently.
Português: Engraçado, não clico nas minhas fotos. Eu tiro uma foto quando amo o que vejo e tento adicionar algo que sei que vai agradar as pessoas. A foto é como uma pintura, arte. Às vezes, o que vemos não é exatamente o que você vê. Cada pessoa interpreta a arte de maneira diferente.
